The Smithsonian Regional Council program consists of over 250 active volunteer leaders who serve as ambassadors, advocates, and fundraisers for the Institution. Located in 10 cities and regions across the nation, Council members strengthen the Smithsonian’s presence outside of Washington, DC, connect volunteer leaders more effectively nationally, and inspire increased support for the Institution. Members promote the Institution's exhibitions, educational programs, research, and cultural contributions by hosting or co-hosting programs in their communities. Council members play a vital role in the Smithsonian’s regional outreach while providing ongoing support for essential projects across the Institution.
As the Institution advances its Smithsonian Campaign for Our Shared Future, Council members contribute to the campaign’s success by engaging their communities, fostering partnerships, and raising awareness about the Institution's transformative work. Through their dedication and efforts, they help advance the Smithsonian's mission for generations to come.
