- This vibrant costume was worn by singer and guitarist Wanda Jackson, who is known as “the Queen of Rockbilly.” It matches her flamboyant performance style and consists of a red polyester chemise top adorned with red sequins and red fringe and matching red polyester pants decorated with red sequins and satin waist band. Jackson wore the outfit in performance at the 1970 Buddy Holly Tribute in Clearlake, Iowa. When she started her career in 1955, Jackson often shared the bill with Elvis Presley, who encouraged her to develop her unique musical style, which combined the soulful sounds of country music with the rhythms of rock ‘n’roll. Among Jackson’s many recording hits are the songs “Fujiyama Mama,” “Let’s Have a Party.” Right or Wrong” and “In the Middle of a Heartache.”
