- Description
- Johns-Manville donated foot square samples of asbestos cloth and some other of its asbestos products in 1924. In a letter in the accession file, the company describes the uses of asbestos cloth: "for clothing, i.e. aprons, caps, coats and sleeve prtoectors, gloves and mittens, hats and helmets, leggings, overalls, shoes, also for theatre curtains, blankets for smotheirng small fires in cleaning establlishments, etc., fire drags for fighting field fires and for other requirements where Asbestos fireproof cloth is required.. Asbestos listing is a fireproof, flexible, woven tape suitable for wrapping all forms of electrical wires."
