- This violin was made by William H. Moennig II of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1943. The violin has two labels, one reading “Presented by Grant G. Mason Jr. to Rafael Druian,” and the other “William Moennig Jr., Philadelphia Pennsylvania, U.S.A. 1943.” The violin has a table made of two-piece spruce and a back of two piece maple. The ribs, neck, peg-box, and scroll are made of maple and the violin has a dark red varnish. The violin was made for and played by Rafael Druian during his career as the concertmaster of symphonies in Dallas, Minneapolis, Cleveland, and New York from 1949-1974.
