- This is part of collection of software and other materials assembled over the years by Smithsonian curator Jon Eklund. From 1991 until its discontinuation in 2009, Microsoft sold a personal finance management program known as Microsoft Money. This is the first release candidate (RC-1) for version 4 of the software. A release candidate for commercial software is a testing version with the possiblity it will become a stable product (as opposed to the earier beta version). A label on the 3 1/2" disk reads:Microsoft Money (/) v.4.0 - RC1 (/) Disk 1 (/) Golden (/) 8/1/95.
