- Description
- “My role as an organizer—community and cultural—is basically to give people an option. Powerlessness is basically having no option.” —Worth Long
Despite the bad weather, the Ralph Rinzler Memorial Concert was held indoors on June 30. The concert honored Worth Long, folklorist and civil rights worker, and featured performances by Sweet Heaven Kings, the premier Washington D.C. shout band, based in the United House of Prayer in Anacostia, and the Rising Star Fife and Drum band from Northern Mississippi led by Sharde Thomas.
