Handspring
Description
The Visor "handheld computer," sold by Handspring, Inc., offered users an electronic address book, a date book, a to do list, a memo pad,and an electronic calculator, as well as the possibility of synchronizing data with a computer. The battery-operated device fit into a black leather case (one mark of its being the Deluxe form of the instrument. It also could be charged using a cradle that plugged into a wall socket. This example of the instrument comes in its original box with quick reference guide, an instructional cd that could be read using a computer, and a catalog of add-ons.
The device is marked in the battery section: PATENTS PENDING (/) ASSEMBLED IN MALAYSIA". It is in its original case and appears not to have been used.
Founded in 1998 by discontented employees of Palm, Inc., Handspring, Inc., of Mountain View, California, existed as an independent firm until 2003. The Visor and Visor Deluxe were among its earliest products.
