Fifteen of the sixteen people wear or display the Oklahoma Medal of Distinction, medals hanging from green ribbon - Eddie Faye Gates, who stands third from the right in a black dress and animal print scarf, instead wears a red ribbon. Survivors present include Delois Vaden Ramsey, second row and second from left in a turquoise dress; Thelma Knight, second row and second from right in a black jacket; Roanna Henry McClure, first row and fourth from the left in a light blue dress and white hat; Otis Clark, second row and second from the right in a white suit and bowtie; and Genevieve Tillman-Jackson, second row and first from the right in a white dress. The photograph is taken in the gymnasium of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma as part of a Riot Commemoration Program. The backdrop is a short brick wall and a red curtain. Back of photograph has a repeating watermark for Kodak Royal Paper. There are several inscriptions on the image of the back. At top left in blue ink is [#133].
