- Description
- Design for a mantelpiece. The mantelpiece is depicted at the center of the composition, imbeded into a wall. In the fireplace design itself, laterally are pilasters with trophies hanging by a ribbon from a rosette. The central part of the projecting upper frieze is decorated with a relief of a Roman emperor, receiving captives. Classical helmets are in each of the two corners of the frieze. There is burning fire illustrated in the fireplace.
