- CSA Paid 5 manuscript marking with a Grenada, Mississippi, December 3, 1861, circular date stamp on a buff patriotic envelope, addressed to Sharon, Mississippi. The sender was a private in the Confederate army.
- The patriotic flag design shows eleven stars in the field. It is Dietz Type F-11-5.
- It is established that this cover was used in 1861 since it is marked for five cents postage. Postage rates increased to ten cents in July 1862.
