Historical Note
The position of Registrar was first established in 1965. Prior to that time registrarial duties were performed by the United States National Museum registrar. Marjorie S. Zapruder served as Registrar from 1965 until 1967, when Elizabeth Strassmann was appointed. Strassmann held the position until 1973. She was succeeded by William R. Johnston, who served as Registrar, 1974- .
