- Freer visited Panama Pacific Exposition in San Francisco in April of 1915. During his visit, he met with the dealers C.T. Loo and Pang Tszu-chen who had brought paintings from the collection of Shanghai collector Pang Laichen (Pang Yuanji). Freer purchased 13 of the paintings, 2 of which were transfered to his friends, Eugene and Agnes Meyer.
