- This photograph was taken by Dr. Simon Ottenberg while he was invited to receive a chieftaincy title at Afikpo village-group, southeastern Nigeria, from October 11, 1992 to October 20, 1992.
- Original caption reads, "Pots made by Oyiri Egwuni of Afikpo. The very small ones are probably for sacrificial uses, the very large ones are probably water pots. No potter's wheel is used. Afikpo girls are not interested in producing pots anymore, as a rule." [Ottenberg field research notes, October 1992].
