- Scope and Contents
- "Because the Senufo have split up into a large number of independent subgroups, different types of building have resulted, the most common type being the round hut with a conical thatched roof. Its mud walls are constructed of dried semicircular earth bricks. Once in the compound, there is a maze of granaries and huts leading, in places, into courtyards of different houses, open or partially fenced in." [Oliver P., 1998: Vernacular Architecture of the World. The Savanna Grasslands. Cambridge University Press]. This photograph was taken when Eliot Elisofon was on assignment for Westinghouse Film and traveled to Africa from October 26, 1970 to end of March 1971.
