- Scope and Contents
- "The need for privacy is apparently seldom felt. Indeed the very lay-out of the dwellings points in this direction; around a circular interior yard which serves as a parlour, living-room, kitchen, workshop etc. for everybody, as many huts opening on the yard are constructed as the number of rooms of which a house is supposed to consist." [Neiers, M.de P., 1979: The Peoples of the Jos Plateau, Nigeria. European University Papers]. This photograph was taken when Eliot Elisofon was on assignment for Westinghouse Film and traveled to Africa from October 26, 1970 to end of March 1971.
