- CDR copy FW-ASCH-7RR-2795 corresponds almost precisely to the Folkways album entitled: The Original Read-In for Peace in Vietnam (FW09752), issued in 1967, recorded at Town Hall, NYC, produced by the Committee of the Professions, having, as Chairman of the Evening, Stanley Kauffmann. It consists of various prominent authors reading from their publications or manuscripts, or, in the case of Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee, from the Bible. Some presentations are prose, some are poetry. Some well-known actors are present, including Tony Randall, Maureen Stapleton, Hal Brooks, Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee. Tony Randall managed to inject some humor into an otherwise intense, serious event. The tape was in a solid brown tape box, with the handwritten note on the inside, saying, "Wrong tape! Do not use! Lou Menashe" (Mr. Menashe produced the Folkways recording.) I have no clue as to what was wrong with this tape or how it differs from whatever tape was used. There are approximately 6 other tapes in the FW-ASCH series that are from the Vietnam Read-In.
