- General
- Folkways 3870 CDR copy FW-ASCH-7RR-0853 contains three items. First and foremost, it contains excerpts from a 40-hour interview with former Vice-President Alben Barkley, interviewed by Sydney Shallot, during 1953. The recording is frequently interrupted and took place while Mr. Shallot accompanied Mr. Barkley on his travels. The tape was used in producing a Folkways record: "Veep;" Alben W. Barkley Tells His Own Story (FW03870). This tape includes some segments that were used on the record along with additional segments that were not used. It includes comments on hog-calling, complete with a demonstration. The tape also includes a fragment of an Israeli song and a cantorial, that presumably are only on the tape because they were originally on the tape prior to the interview.
