- Scope and Contents
- John Kinard presents a speech he titled "The Museum: A Revolutionary Institution in a Conservative Society." Kinard talks about the past, present, and future of the Anacostia Neighborhood Museum (ANM), particularly how ANM must be an advocate and how ANM can best serve the community. He talks about social responsibility and strong work ethic despite the challenges Anacostians are facing in their community as well as African Americans in the United States. He calls for action, working for change, and speaking the truth, even when one is afraid. Speech was given on the occasion of the opening of the exhibition about tapestry quilts from California and the 9th anniversary of the ANM.
