- Biographical / Historical
- Annandale Catering is the English language name of Annandale Dduk-Jip, a legacy institution that has been making dduk or Korean rice cakes and serving the Korean American community for over 40 years. The business launched in 1975 in the basement of owner Sonia Lee's mother-in-law's home. Lee initially made rice cakes for local churches, then began filling catering orders. She moved her operation to the current location at 4221 Tom Davis Drive in Annandale, Virginia in 1992. Lee mills her own flours and spices, an important function of rice cake makers in Korean culture. She also prepares banchan or side-dishes essential to the Korean dining table, which are sold in the store, and she caters events.
