- Biographical / Historical
- Best Kitchen Supply has equipped restaurateurs, professional chefs and home cooks in the Washington, DC, region since 1986. Customers include chefs of diverse backgrounds, and operators of neighborhood carry-outs, who appreciate buying supplies in smaller quantities than those offered by large commercial suppliers. Owners Lisa Choi and her husband Steven Choi moved to their Union Market (413 Morse Street NE) location in 1988, at a time when many Korean American wholesalers opened operations there. They initially sold commercial appliances but shifted their business model to wholesale and specialized kitchen supplies as the area developed into a trendy, mixed-use retail and residential complex. In 2021, Best Kitchen Supply is one of few remaining food businesses owned by Korean Americans at Union Market.
