- Historical
- Mid-Autumn Festival, known as Tết Trung Thu in Vietnamese, celebrates the end of the harvest season. In Vietnamese tradition, it is a time to show love, gratitude and respect to one another, to worship the full moon, the Earth God, and celebrate a full harvest by enjoying the lion dance or dragon dance, a lantern parade and moon cakes. It is typically celebrated on the full moon of the 8th month of the lunar calendar, but festivities often extend a full week, and preparation begins a month in advance. One of the biggest celebrations in the Washington, DC region occurs at Eden Center in Falls Church, Virginia, where a diverse crowd gathers annually.
