- Biographical / Historical
- Da Hsin Trading Company is a convenience store and dried goods shop in Washington, DC's Chinatown neighborhood. The store carries housewares, cooking ware, dried goods, spices, and other pantry goods, as well as souvenirs for tourists visiting DC. It is also a key source of traditional Chinese herbal medicinal ingredients. Many of the neighborhood's Chinese grocery stores have closed or moved to the suburbs, and in 2021, Da Hsin stands as a significant resource for Chinese American residents of Chinatown, many of whom are elderly and live in the nearby Wah Luck House. Richard Chiang, a graduate of Washington, DC's Wilson High School and the University of Maryland, has owned and operated the store since 1980.
