- Located about 13 miles outside of Washington, DC, Annandale, Virginia is home to a diverse community of immigrants from East and Southeast Asia as well as Central and South America. Korean and Korean American businesses are among the most visible along Little River Turnpike, many of them located in strip malls and shopping plazas. Korean Americans began to settle in the area in the 1970s and established a range of businesses and networks of civic, religious, and social organizations through the 1990s. In the 2020s, Annandale maintains a thriving business district for Korean Americans, who have also expanded their presence further west in cities like Centreville, Virginia.
