Biarritz, Col. McCroskey handing out gifts at old folks home

General: Brigadier General (not Colonel) Samuel Lusker McCroskey (1893-1960), barely visible in this photograph, was Commandant of the Biarritz American University. The university opened in August 1945 and closed in March 1946 and was intended to provide a transition for soldiers from army life to college and university study back in the United States. It is possible that this photograph was taken at the home for the aged operated by the Little Sisters of the Poor.
