Object Details

General: The headquarters of the Berlin unit of the Office of Military Government, United States, was located at the intersections of what are now Clayallee and Saargemunder Strasse in the Dahlem locality of the Steglitz-Zehlendorf borough of southwest Berlin. The building was originally constructed in 1936-38 as a German Luftwaffe district headquarters and suffered little damage during World War II, enabling its rapid conversion to an Allied facility.
