General: Thomas W. Sears took photographs of this property in the fall of 1911 and spring of 1912. At the time the three-story, Federal Revival style house was undergoing major renovation. Sears's drawing for a pergola and adjacent garden area is found in the series as both a glass negative and print (in the photograph album). It is unclear, however, whether the design was ever executed and the remaining album photographs all seem to show the site prior to any landscaping being actually done.; Persons and firms associated with the garden include John S. and Edith Farlow (former owners, circa 1911-1912) and Thomas W. Sears (landscape architect and photographer, 1911-1912).
