Mendham -- Three Fields
Object Details
- General
- Three Fields, on Cherry Lane in Mendham, was the 49-acre estate of Andrew and Dorothea Camp Fletcher. The country setting lent itself well to the Norman-French style of the house, with its pink brick and tiled roof. A small orchard was located at the front of the property, while there was a large stone patio at the rear. There was also a terraced garden, a pool, and views of the surrounding hills and woodlands. Andrew Fletcher, who had served as mayor of Mendham, gave the property to the Borough of Mendham to hold in trust until a time after the death of his wife, who held a life interest, when its sale might be useful for the benefit of the Borough. This was done in May 1982 and the proceeds used to create the "Andrew Fletcher Three Fields Memorial Trust."
