Woodbridge -- Hull Garden
Object Details
- General
- Although the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Hull was well-landscaped with azaleas, mountain laurel, and rhododendron, it was their unique glass-sided dining room with attached greenhouse that attracted photographer Molly Adams. A wide range of plants from cacti to orchids to bonsai found a home in these interior spaces, which were large enough to provide variations in light, temperature, and humidity. Separate furnaces and humidifiers for the plant-dining room and greenhouse, as well as a super-slat structure over the gardening end of the house, facilitated the provision of specialized conditions for the plants. The overall result was one of lush variety ranging from gardenias to rosemary to staghorn ferns and a plant collection that garnered numerous awards for its owners.
