New Hyde Park -- Blum Garden, No. 1
Object Details
- General
- This was one of two gardens belonging to Robert Edward and Ethel Halsey Blum that were photographed by Molly Adams (the other is NY969). Landscape architect Alice Recknagel Ireys played a major role in the garden's design over the years. A distinctive wisteria pergola complemented the Dutch Colonial style house, providing an elevated viewing platform over the rest of the garden. Extensive annual and perennial borders, substantial stone hardscaping, and a variety of specimen trees and shrubs completed the site.
