Great Neck -- Mendelson Garden
Object Details
- General
- This garden was designed by landscape architect Clara Stimson Coffey. Decks at the back of the home took advantage of views across a broad expanse of lawn leading to Long Island Sound. Shrubs such as Andorra junipers and viburnum were planted near the mid-century modern ranch style house, while spring interest was provided by wisteria, peonies, and candytuft. Weeping trees, including rosebud cherries and hemlock, embraced a Chinese sculpture elsewhere on the grounds.
