- Description
- The US Postal Service commemorated the fiftieth anniversary of the completion of the Alaska Highway with the issue of a 29-cent commemorative stamp in Fairbanks, Alaska, on May 30, 1992. Construction on the 1500-mile Alaska Highway was begun by the US Army Corps of Engineers and other government agencies in March 1942 and completed in November of the same year.
- Designed by Byron Birdsall, the stamps were printed in offset/intaglio process by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing and issued in panes of fifty.
