At its Oct. 21, 2013 meeting, the Smithsonian Board of Regents took the following action:
VOTED that the Board of Regents expresses its deep appreciation to the staff and volunteers of the Smithsonian Institution for their dedication to ensure that the Smithsonian was open and accessible to the American public immediately following the reopening of the Federal Government on October 17, 2013.
