
The Office of Business and Technology Services enables Facilities Management to focus on their core mission while bringing innovation to administrative and technical functions. The staff of budget, personnel, geospatial, and knowledge management professionals improve coordination and drive efficiencies across all of Facilities Management. The Office of Business and Technology Services also oversees the management of the Capital Gallery Building, the Smithsonian’s new administrative headquarters.
Financial Management Division
The Financial Management team coordinates the Facilities Management budget-formulation process and provides guidance and reporting on executing the facilities operations and maintenance budgets, while overseeing accountable property, travel, and procurement activities.
Personnel Management Division
The Personnel Management Team is responsible for Facilities Management’s personnel actions, performance management, and coordinating recruitment, employee relations, and position classifications. They also monitor the organizational health of our workforce and develop strategies with Facilities Management to ensure positions are properly staffed.
Facilities Information Technology Division
The Facilities Information Technology team compiles, manages, and delivers facilities related information covering how spaces are identified, configured, and their occupancy and usage. They manage and provide the SI Explorer tool – a map and data viewer. They also provide document management support, facilities metrics and reporting, as well as facilitating collaboration through communities of practice.
