Exhibited are 185 non-traditional contemporary works by 90 artists that emphasize the continued power, versatility, and invention of photography. The photographs, neither documentary nor descriptive, more often resemble paintings in size, style, appearance, and presentation, reflecting influences from conceptual art and post-modernism. The artist's works seek to challenge traditional photography's claim to truthfully describe the real world. The exhibition celebrates the 150th anniversary of the invention of photography.
