Artworks in a variety of styles and media address the human spirit’s struggle to exist and persist. Martha Jackson-Jarvis’s ceramic wall installation explores themes around life’s rites of passage—birth, death, and rebirth. Morrison’s figurative art questions the lingering impact of childhood experiences. The works on display, by Sam Gilliam, Martha Jackson-Jarvis, Keith Morrison and William T. Williams, evoke the soul of Washington, DC and New York City, the urban environments from which these artists draw inspiration.
