Smithsonian Books Releases "Claws and Effect"
Smithsonian Books’ graphic novel series Secret Smithsonian Adventures features four middle schoolers visiting the Smithsonian who discover that someone is tampering with history, so they must use their history and science knowledge to thwart these evil plots. Each book in the series will tie in with a different Smithsonian museum or gallery and its subject area.
The first volume, The Wrong Wrights, set in the National Air and Space Museum, came out in spring 2016. The second volume, Claws and Effect, will be released Oct. 18. Schoolmates Dominique, Eric, Josephine and Ajay are returning home from their first time-travel adventure when they realize there are dinosaurs all over their neighborhoods. They return to the Smithsonian to figure out what is amiss. Once there, they see that the National Museum of Natural History is called The Museum of Extinction, many modern animals have become extinct and dinosaurs have returned. They travel back in time to the 1876 Philadelphia Exhibition and discover that criminals have brought back dinosaur eggs as a new business venture. Enlisting the help of William Foulke, Nellie Bly and Alexander Graham Bell and using their natural history smarts, the heroes unite to save history once again.
