National Museum of the American Indian Wins AAM Excellence in Exhibition Award
The Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian has won the American Alliance of Museums’ Excellence in Exhibition award for “Nation to Nation: Treaties Between the United States and American Indian Nations.” The award is given to recognize outstanding achievement in the exhibition format from all types of noncommercial institutions offering exhibitions to the public.
“Nation to Nation” opened in September 2014 to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the opening of the museum on the National Mall. It will remain open through spring 2020.
The National Museum of the American Indian acknowledges the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community, Bank of America, Interface Media Group and the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians for their support of the “Nation to Nation” exhibition and symposium.
