National Museum of African American History and Culture Continues Walk-Up Weekdays in January

The Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture today announced Walk-Up Weekdays in January. Individuals may enter the museum on a first-come, first-served basis Monday through Friday for the entire month of January 2019Timed entry passes for individuals will only be required on Saturdays and Sundays in January. Walk-up entry in January is part of a continuing pilot to provide visitors unfettered access to the museum.

On Wednesday, Oct. 3, at 9:00 a.m., the museum will distribute Advance Timed Entry Passes for Saturdays and Sundays:

  • Jan. 5 and 6
  • Jan. 12 and 13
  • Jan. 19 and 20
  • Jan. 26 and 27

Timed entry passes for October, November and December have already been distributed and are still required for entry during those months. 

Required Group Passes

  • The museum will continue to require advance timed passes for groups of 10 or more every day.
  • All groups are required to present passes to gain entry to the museum through a designated entrance.

No Same-Day Online and Walk-up Timed entry passes weekdays in January

  • Same-day online and walk-up timed entry passes will not be available on weekdays in January.
