This is the second in a series of three Bicentennial exhibitions, dealing with the period beginning with military engagements at Lexington and Concord and ending with the adoption of the Declaration of Independence by the First Continental Congress. Paintings, sculptures, prints, documents and associative items—more than 250 in total—will be displayed in a chronological history of the tense years, 1774 to 1776, when the Colonies and England drew irreparably apart.
Settings for the exhibition will recall Carpenter's Hall, Independence Hall, an early American armory, and English, American and French parlors. Furniture—American, English, and French—will be of the period.
