- Santiniketan to Smithsonian: A Tribute to Tagore Mayur Dance Company Choreography: Sukanya Tagore Mukherji Dancers: Uttara Nag, Mishka Mukherji, Rhea Sirkar, Antora Rahman, Silvee Jamil, Esha Sirkar Sukanya Tagore Mukherji is a Washington-area Odissi dancer and choreographer whose work combines traditional technique and creative interpretation. She is founder and artistic director of the Mayur Dance Academy, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting Indian performing arts, especially Odissi. In 2006, Mukherji and her senior students formed Mayur Dance Company to create new productions and to allow dancers to work professionally. The company has performed at prestigious venues such as the International Odissi Festival in Bhuvaneshwar, Orissa. Mukherji herself has performed at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival and at the Kennedy Center.
