- The Lumbee Nation of North Carolina hosted its first cultural festival at the National Museum of the American Indian, showcasing showcase storytelling, music, social dances, pine-needle basketry, patchwork quilting, and more. In this video segment from the festival, tribal chairman, Harvey Godwin, Jr., introduces the first culture presentation of the day, which included the women's seed planting dance, a men's war dance, a cane flute demonstration, and a friendship dance. Kaya Littleturtle acts as emcee as well as performer, introducing the Lumbee Nation members in each presentation to the audience. This program was webcast and recorded in the Potomac Atrium of the National Museum of the American Indian on September 8, 2017.
