- Description
- Some tools used by astronauts during spacewalks look like something you could pick up at your local hardware store. Many more are specially engineered to accomplish tasks in the unique environment of space. From checklists and tethers to cameras and power drills, astronauts need an army of mechanical help to work outside the spacecraft. Tool designers, tool users, and tool curators were on hand in this "What's New in Aerospace" presentation that looked at the past, present, and future of EVA (extra-vehicular activity) tools. This program is made possible through the generous support of Boeing. See more from the "What's New in Aerospace" program: http://airandspace.si.edu/explore-and-learn/whats-new-aerospace/
