- Description
- Landscape sketch showing a view of the base of a large tree within a dense forest, likely in Vermont. Rising through the central vertical axis, a broad tree trunk, rendered in great detail, is partly wreathed in moss around its roots. Before it, in the immediate foreground, debris, soil, and undergrowth is visible. In the background, numerous thinner trees populate the woods among a mass of yellow-green vegetation.
