- This spacefood package contains dehydrated food, packaged to provide a full astronaut meal identified as Day 5, Meal B of the Apollo 11 mission in July 1969. It was not consumed during the mission and was returned to Earth.
- Each Apollo crew member was provided with three meals per day, providing approximately 2,800 calories. The food was freeze-dried and was easily reconstituted by the astronaut with a water probe dispenser, which inserted one half ounce of hot or cold water as required.
- This food package was found in the collection, but was likely transferred from NASA to the Museum in the 1970s or 1980s.
