- The Department of Systematic Biology has over 70 scientists in the fields of botany, entomology, invertebrate and vertebrate zoology, 80 million biological specimens, a tremendous library, and archival resources. Our programs are collaborative with co-located staff from the Departments of Agriculture, Commerce, Defense and Interior, representing a total group of about 120 systematists.
