- This is a United States Navy Mark IV pressure suit. The Navy contracted with the B. F. Goodrich Company (BFG) to make these high-altitude aviation suits during the 1950s. The full-pressure suit allowed American pilots to fly at extremely high altitudes. When NASA began to develop their human spaceflight program, Mercury, they adapted these suits for use in spacecraft.
- NASA Manned Spacecraft Center transferred this pressure suit to the Museum in 1970.
