Description
This small metal bank is designed in the style of a mid-twentieth century U.S. mailbox. The bank design includes a 'pull down' lip, the word “LETTERS” in white on the front, and a paper collection-time notice near the bottom. The paper notice has been partially removed. The bank is painted red and blue, colors that the Post Office Department used for its mailboxes and vehicles from the 1950s to the 1970s. There is a slot on the top of the bank for inserting coins.
