- Diane Keaton was already a rising star in Hollywood after her success in Woody Allen’s Annie Hall when Time selected her for a cover story in September 1977. The actress was awaiting the imminent release of her latest film, Looking for Mr. Goodbar (1977), a sobering tale of casual sex and murder that offered a dark contrast to the whimsical Woody Allen comedy. Keaton won a Best Actress Oscar for Annie Hall and a Golden Globe for Goodbar the next year.
