PROVENIENCE UNDOCUMENTED. IDENTIFICATION PROVIDED BY HMSG.PURCHASED BY J HIRSHHORN FROM THE DELACORTE GALLERY, NEW YORK, IN 1959. WOODEN MASK BLUE PINK WHITE PAINT, EYES AND EYEBROWS BLACK INK, APPEARS THAT OF A WOMAN.
Coffin mask, wood, painted. Roman period in style. Paint largely intact. Pink tinted face is typical of Roman period masks and coffins. Ca. 2nd century A.D..
