- This slide is part of a collection of 35mm slides encapsulating Robert Houston's full portfolio of images related to the Poor People's Campaign and the antipoverty protest camp on the National Mall. Known as "Resurrection City," the camp lasted for six weeks in the spring of 1968.
- Description
- This color slide depicts a group of three young men constructing an A-frame temporary shelter in Resurrection City. One young man is sitting atop a ladder, outside the entrance to the wooden structure. He wears a blue cap, orange shirt, and blue jeans and is eating food from a white paper bag on his lap. The two other man stand on the ground next to the ladder. One has his back to the camera and wears grey pants and a dark blue denim jacket. To his right, the third young man stands facing towards him. He wears a dark grey sweater, blue jeans, and white sneakers. His arms are crossed in front of him casually. In the background are several other groups of people and rows of A-frame structures in various stages of completion. The slide mount has text on the reverse that reads "processed by/ rogers color lab corp. / new york."
